About Dr. Jeff

Jeffrey J. Thompson, DDS, MS, is a board-certified orthodontist in Leawood, Kansas specializing in orthodontics for children and adults. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Dental School and earned a master’s degree at Washington University.

To attain certification as a Diplomate, a distinction earned by only 20 percent of orthodontists, he pursued advanced studies upon completion of dental school and his orthodontic residency. His passion for helping patients is inspired by a 60-year family legacy of orthodontic excellence. He began his work as an orthodontist in 1991 when he joined his father, DJ Thompson, DDS, at Thompson Orthodontics, a practice established by his uncle in 1947.

In 2008, Dr. Jeff founded Jeff Thompson Orthodontics in Leawood, KS, a practice fully committed to providing premier orthodontic services.

Dr. Jeff is an associate professor at the UMKC Orthodontic Department and has served on numerous boards devoted to advances in orthodontics care. He is also a clinical advisor to companies pursuing development of new orthodontic products.
